This is a partial list of original Air Service, United States Army "Aero Squadrons" before and during World War I. Units formed after 1 January 1919, are not listed. Aero Squadrons were the designation of the first United States Army aviation units until the end of World War I. These units consisted of combat flying, training, ground support, construction and other components of the Air Service. After World War I ended, the majority of these squadrons were demobilized. Some however were retained during the interwar period of the 1920s and 1930s, and served in all theaters of operation during World War II. 133d Air Refueling Squadron
The 133rd Air Refueling Squadron (133 ARS) is a unit of the New Hampshire Air National Guard 157th Air Refueling Wing located at Pease Air National Guard Base, Portsmouth, New Hampshire, United States. The 133rd, which previously operated the KC-135 Stratotanker, received its first KC-46A Pegasus tanker on 8 August 2019. The squadron was first constituted during World War II, with bombardment and fighter roles—as the 383rd and 529th, respectively—until being inactivated in January 1946. It was then allotted to the New Hampshire Air National Guard as the 133rd Fighter Squadron in May 1946, being activated the following April. From 1960 until 1975, the 133rd went through several operational changes: air transport, military airlift, tactical airlift, and finally aerial refueling, which remains its current mission. Electronic Attack Squadron 133 (VAQ-133) is an EA-18G Growler squadron of the United States Navy based at Naval Air Station Whidbey Island, Washington. Beginning in 2013, the squadron began the transition from the EA-6B to the EA-18G. Upon completion of the transition in spring of 2014, they returned to their attachment to Carrier Air Wing Nine. The squadron's nickname is "Wizards" and its radio callsign is "Magic". Squadron history There have been two squadrons designated VAQ-133. VF-133 or Fighting Squadron 133 was a United States Navy fighter aircraft squadron. It was created in 1948 in aviation, 1948 during the reorganization of CAG 13 in which VF-13A became VF-131, VF-14 became VF-132, VF-133 was commissioned, VA-13A became Attack Squadron 134 (U.S. Navy), VA-134, and VA-14A became Attack Squadron 135 (U.S. Navy), VA-135. The squadron was established as Bombing Squadron 133 (VB-133) on 22 March 1943, redesignated Patrol Bombing Squadron 133 (VPB-133) on 1 October 1944, redesignated Patrol Squadron 133 (VP-133) on 15 May 1946 and disestablished on 17 June 1946.
